LKMS Familes and Community Members,

What a wild, wacky and wonderful start to the 2021-22 school year!  We were so happy to see the smiling eyes of our students on Monday and get back to a mostly normal school routine.  On Tuesday, we practiced our first emergency drills - Evacuation, Reverse Evacuation and Modified Lockdown.  Our students did a tremendous job taking these drills very seriously and we are so proud of them!  Wednesday's weather early closing was unexpected, but as always the safety of our staff and students is paramount.  We have finished this week enjoying the beautiful September weather and getting settled into our school routine.

We look forward to seeing Parents and Guardians next week during "Back to School Night."  While we love our students, this event is for Parents and Guardians only.  We will have staff available to help you find your way, so no need to bring your personal tour guides.  Look for more information to come on Wednesday of next week.  We look forward to seeing you at 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 9, 2021.

Masks

A reminder that all students should be wearing a mask throughout the school day, including on the bus, in the hallways, and at lunch.  The only exception to this is when the student is actively eating.  If a student forgets their mask, we have a supply in the front office.  Thank you for helping us reinforce this expectation.

Backpacks/Lockers

We are so happy that students are able to utilize lockers again this year!  All students have been assigned a locker and we ask that they utilize the lockers to store coats, lunchboxes, books and notebooks.  Students should load their backpacks with their laptop and the materials they need for a few classes at a time (for example, materials for classes before lunch).  A fully loaded backpack can cause strain on the student's body, as well as making the classroom difficult to safely maneuver.
