See this week's list of Student Shout Outs! Keep up the perseverance; we are proud of you all!
Each year, students in middle school earn 25 hours for student service learning. This year, all grades at LKMS will participate in Heifer International’s Reading Incentive Program. Students have the option to recruit sponsors for time spent reading and are being challenged to read at least 30 minutes each day. For more details, please read the information on our Student Service Learning program.
If a teacher is unable to return to teaching in person due to health issues, a monitor would be hired to supervise the classroom of in-person students while the teacher continues teaching virtually. Having Classroom Monitors will help minimize the need for daily substitutes in our school. The pay is $14.25 per hour and the position is 5-days a week with work hours from 8:45am to 3:30pm. Click this link for more information. Click here to apply. Please email Gillian_Bradley@hcpss.org after submitting your application.
Please read the latest important information from our Health Room. Parents/Guardians should call our Health Room, 410-880-5916 or email the cluster nurse at Kassandra_Wanless@hcpss.org with any questions or concerns regarding your student's health.
Please use our "Absence Reporting School Email": LKMSabsence@hcpss.org for reporting your child's absences. Please do not send paper notes to school with your child.
The first point of contact for absence questions should be sent to your child's teacher. Click here for the LKMS Staff List.
To view attendance information for your child, log in to HCPSS Connect and click on Attendance in the left panel.
Attendance During Hybrid In-Person/Virtual Instruction
If you need additional assistance, email Rhonda Hill, School Counseling Secretary, rhonda_hill@hcpss.org.
Students attending school in-person should bring their fully charged HCPSS assigned Chromebook and power adapter to school on their assigned days. If your student does not currently have a Chromebook, they may pick up one from our school's Media Center on their first day of in-person instruction. HCPSS has developed a new webpage for students, Chromebook Care, which includes tips on caring for and transporting Chromebooks, as well as student mobile technology duties and obligations and additional resources.
Update: Please read the following Update regarding the availability of Digital Tools for Chromebooks.
We have many outstanding books checked out from our Media Center. Please take the time to look around your home for any books you have not returned. Lime Kiln offers a "checkout" and "return" service daily between the hours of 8am-12pm, Monday through Friday. Books may be returned and retrieved from the book cart located in the school's Front Office vestibule. If you wish to checkout a new book, please complete this Survey. Hope to see you there!
Read the latest news and events on our PTA website to include information on our upcoming "virtual family evening event" featuring the speed-painting artist Rob Surette, as well as our next PTA "Gotta Eat" Night fundraiser.
All middle and high school students interested in getting involved in student leadership and service are invited to the monthly meetings of the Howard County Association of Student Councils (HCASC). The next virtual meeting is Wednesday, March 10, 7:00-8:00pm. Students should pre-register to receive the meeting link. For more information, please email cindy_drummond@hcpss.org.
The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) invites all HCPSS students to submit designs for its new Instagram and Twitter social media account logo. The logo should represent diversity, belonging, empathy, justice and joy. The designer of the winning entry will receive a $25 gift card.
